Creating a Sense of Movement and Tranquility

On entering the reception area, visitors are immediately drawn into the space by its wavy walls. These walls not only create a sense of movement and energy but also cleverly hide the irregular shape of the existing space. Light troughs running up the curved walls further enhance the idea of flow and add an illusion of height. The curvy walls also feature alcoves perfect for exhibiting the client's artworks, adding a touch of creativity to the space.

The use of laminated film from Navurban for the curvy wooden panels and furniture ensures UV resistance and scratch & abrasion resistance. Other materials such as laminated glass, carpet, and hairline stainless steel in bronze finishes contribute to the overall aesthetic of the design.

The design features a library cum lounge room, where giant oval-shaped lighting accentuates the client's current project models below. This lighting can be adjusted to create different moods and atmospheres, while oval light troughs surrounding it enhance the feeling of flow and movement. The lounge room is the perfect space for employees to relax and escape from their busy schedules, with comfortable furniture, a bar, and coffee machines.

The wavy walls, together with indirect lighting, draw visitors towards the office rooms beyond, creating an open-plan feel. The concealed, indirect lighting softens the area and enhances the tranquility. Curved and rounded lines are echoed throughout the design, from the oval-shaped seating layout in the reception waiting area to the oval-shaped conference room constructed with a curved glass wall.

Despite the challenges posed by the irregular shape of the existing space and the low ceiling, the design team successfully incorporated wavy walls and light troughs to create a sense of flow and height. Subtle oval indents in the ceiling highlight important areas, adding to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.
